The Fan Committee's Foreword

The Fellowship of the Ring, Poster

There is no doubt about the universal appeal of The Lord of the Rings. For readers, participating in the world that J.R.R. Tolkien created has been a life-changing experience and that is true for many who entered the cinema to witness Peter Jackson’s trilogy of films. Most who did visited again and again.

In a busy world crammed with sensory input of every kind there remains a quiet magic in sharing Middle-earth with those who possess the same passion for it we do. We find a bond—a common ground—that transcends language, nations, age, and familiar social circles; it even crosses the chasm of political ideals

In short, the word “fellowship” rings true, and because of Tolkien’s books and Jackson’s films, a great many steadfast friendships have bloomed worldwide built on the collective appreciation of these works and the shared experiences that surround them.

The weekend of October 9 and 10 promises to continue this tradition with the celebration of Howard Shore’s masterpiece of cinematic scoring with talent not only on display on the screen but live in the historical Radio City Music Hall. Experiencing the film in this charged, dynamic setting will be a rich, unsurpassed cinematic experience, but the weekend in New York City will offer more.

Composer Howard Shore and author Doug Adams will deepen our experience with pre and post-concert signings but beyond even those experiences, a weekend of events await. While details are forthcoming, this setting will be remarkable for its ‘fellowship’ and slate of offerings. Every effort is being made to give the passionate the chance to have an unrivaled Lord of the Rings experience.

With your participation, we hope to make it legendary.
